This year German paddler Florian Breuer has gone from strength to strength. In April he won the Junior World Championship title in C1, competing a long way from home in Penrith, Australia. He backed up this result with a C1silver at the Junior European Championships.

Florian finished 24th at his home World Cup in Augsburg, and improved his senior world ranking to 66th.

At the national level in Germany, arguably one of the most competitive canoe slalom environments in the world, Florian races both K1 and C1. He is German junior National Champion in his favoured C1 class, and also took bronze in the junior K1M event.

Finally in September Florian raced at the senior World Championships in Deep Creek, USA, where he finished a strong 22nd, in a field of seasoned senior competitors.

Florian shows great personal discipline and organisation, which has allowed him to travel the world competing whilst still training as a member of the German ‘sports funding’ police force.

Florian counts pushing his limits as one of his personal strengths and this year he has pushed the limits of the junior rankings. In coming years Florian will be an exciting young paddler to watch as he builds his way on to the senior circuit.

Florian has been nominated for the ‘Sports Junior of the Year’ award for his excellent results in 2014.
